I know a few people are new to seed trading so thought I would put up a little Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to hopefully cover some of the common questions.  I'll continue to add to this list as more questions come up.

How does the seed exchange process work?
It can start one of two ways:
  • The first option is to check the existing topics and see if anyone is offering any seeds you are interested in.  If they are, either reply to the thread or send them a private message expressing your interest and what you have to offer.
  • The second option is to create your own post telling others what you have to trade and if you have specific requests feel free to add those as well.

Once you have established contact now you can negotiate the trade, i.e. which seed types, how many seeds, send same time etc.

Once the trade is complete, please use the karma system (see [applaud] [smite] under person's name) to help establish a record of trust for others in future trades.

How to send seeds?
This again is something that can be discussed during the negotiation.  I personally prefer small plastic envelopes since they are cheap (about $2.00 for a hundred or so) and can be picked up at any craft store.  Money envelopes are also great because unlike plastic then block light coming in though they can leak seeds at the corners so probably safest to tap them up.  There are also great homemade seed packet options

Put seeds in a regular or preferably a padded envelope and be sure to write “Hand Stamp” on it to prevent it from going through the automated system risking crushing the seeds.

Can I trade old seeds?
This is completely up to you and the person you are trading with.  Best to disclose this to avoid conflict later on.

What seeds can we trade?
As long as the seeds are legal in both countries you are welcome to trade, with one exceptio.  Given our server resides in the United States the following seeds are not legal to trade so please to not request or offer the following seeds to others:

  • Lophophora Williamsii
  • Catha Edulis
  • Cannabis
  • E. Coca
  • Papaver Somniferum
